Day 10: Our Last Day

Day Ten marked the end of our trip. We packed up, drove to Anchorage and enjoyed our last few hours in The Last Frontier.

What an amazing trip! Thanks for sharing in our joys :)

Love,
Jim & Camille Samuel

Day Nine: More Hiking!

We spent Day Nine at Alyeska and decided to try out some of the local trails.

We were pretty tired just a few miles in, but this surprise revived us.

We also came across a hand-tram - the only means of crossing the huge drop just in front of us.

A brave soul...we turned around :)

Back at the hotel catching up on our reading.

Day Eight: Aleyska Ski Resort

After enjoying breakfast at the Resurrection Roadhouse, we headed up the road to Alyeska Ski Resort, our final hotel.

Polar Bears in the hotel lobby. No big deal.

We liked hanging out next to this "fire pit"that had an eternal flame, it seemed :)

Our hotel had a sushi restaurant inside!  (Thanks Betsy)

We never saw the sun set while were in Alaska since there is 19 hours of daylight in June.  Sometimes we asked ourselves, "Why do we feel so tired?...Oh, wait, because it's midnight and still bright out!".

Day Seven: Church & A Hike to Exit Glacier

Day Seven was very laid back.  We visited a cute little church in Seward called Church of the Nazarene and finished off the day with another hike to Exit Glacier just down the road from our hotel.

There were markers like these all along the road leading to the glacier.  They mark where the edge of the glacier was in what year. We're probably a mile and a half away from the glacier at this point.

Day Six: Kenai Fjords Boat Tour

Day Six was spent on the water touring Kenai Fjords National Park.

We saw whales...

Sea otters floating on their backs...

Seals...ummm, okay, just kidding. Jim totally took a picture of our tour book :) ....

But we did see a lot of walruses.

And kayakers (crazy!)

And a glacier or two
